Through out my shopping experiences and quests to find good deals I find myself continuously flocking to department stores. Now before you gasp at the thought of even stepping foot in your local Belk, Dillard, JC Penny or Macys, here me out. Department stores have some of the best sales on clothing of outstanding quality. Being as though I’m from
So when I hear people say they won’t go into department stores because they feel they are “too expense.” Well I am here to debunk that myth. With that said, I decided to take a trip into Macy’s in Triangle Town Center Mall this week just to show that anyone can shop there and you can walk out with an item in your hand even if you only have $20. One thing readers need to know is that department stores are always having sales to attract shoppers. Pay attention to those sales and those coupons because they can get you so much for a small amount of money.
For instance, I received an e-mail that Macy’s is having their well awaited “Friends & Family” sale. This is where shoppers get the Macy’s employee discount on almost everything in the store including sale and clearance. Of course some exclusions may apply. I came across a few fashion forward pieces that not only are designer, but were ridiculously cheap. The first area I went to was BAR III where I found the following items below.
The Mustard Blazer was originally $79 dollars. Well due to Macy’s being known for piling savings on top of savings it was 25% off which made it $59.25. Then it was an additional 25% bringing it down to $44.44. Now thanks to the “Friends & Family” sale an additional 25% was taken off making it the final price of $33. Not impressed? Let’s move on to the next item.
The very trend savvy BAR III Faux Leather Bronze Motorcycle Jacket is $89. Well it was on sale for 40% off with an extra 20% that would bring it to $43. Add on that “Friends & Family” now we are bringing it down to $32. See where I’m going with this? But wait there is more!
These extremely popular INC skinny leggings are price marked $49 a piece. They were on sale 25% off with an extra 20% AND you can put the “Friends & Family” discount on top of that. We are looking at both pairs for only $22 a piece. You can get two pair for less than the price of one.
Loving the peplum look this fall? I found one! Originally $39 dollars now price marked $16!

Two things I immediately gravitated to were these BAR III dresses. The stripped faux leather tube was originally $64 and the tribal dress was $69. With the blessing of sales, clearance and additional savings the Stripped dress was knocked down to $27 and the tribal dress $18 bucks.
They even worked well with other looks that were mentioned above.
Tell me, now do you still think department stores are only for those who are wealthy? Note some sales will vary from store to store, but in my experience Macy’s has always matched prices. So go out and treat yourself to some nice things on a budget! You may even find some good Christmas gifts!
